A protected area (PA) is a designated room within an apartment, designed to provide maximum protection for residents from threats such as rocket fire, explosions, and earthquakes. The PA is built of reinforced concrete as a single piece, in accordance with Home Front Command regulations, and is equipped with a sealed door and side window, ensuring gas tightness and protection against shrapnel. The interior area of the PA is at least 9 square meters, and its height ranges from 2.5 to 2.8 meters. In addition, the PA includes ventilation ducts and a dust filtration system, which allow for a safe and comfortable stay during emergency situations.
An institutional protected area (MPA) is a protected area designed for public buildings and institutions, such as schools, hospitals, and offices, and its purpose is to provide protection for employees, students, and visitors during emergencies. The MPA is built of reinforced concrete, in accordance with Home Front Command regulations, and includes roll-up doors, escape hatches, and ventilation and air filtration systems. The size and design of the MPA are tailored to the number of people expected to stay in it, and it is located in a central and accessible location within the building, to allow for quick and safe access when needed.
